Honda calls back 608,000 vehicles with faulty software

Honda is calling back 608,000 units of vehicles including SUVs and vans on account of faulty software which is causing random reboots and backup camera failures. The recall is scheduled to start from 23rd September.

This is not the first time when Honda is seen recalling its vehicles because of some software problems. Last time it was in 2018 when the company recalled 232,000 Accords and Insights for a similar issue.

Since no Over-The Air update is available for some of the faults so Honda is planning to contact it’s customers to get the faulty software reprogrammed by a dealer. Some units at the same time will be receiving OTA updates for error fixing. The display malfunction in the units leads to the the hiding of some of the very essential features like the speed and the gear selection position and the problem persists until the car is restarted again.

Earlier this year Fiat also recalled 365,000 Chryslers for a similar issue with the Backup cameras.
